Introducing Our New Site and Our New Look
Dear Colleagues,
Many of you know that during this past year, Teaching Strategies celebrated its 20th anniversary. A lot has changed in the early childhood field during those two decades. We felt it was a good time to step back and ask you, our customers, how well we were meeting your needs and what we could be doing better. We were eager to hear about your vision--for yourselves, for your program, and for the children you care for every day. We also asked ourselves to define the role that we play in early childhood and our vision for the future.
We realized that all of us are in this profession because we want to open doors to lifelong learning. You open doors for children and families each day in your work. We see our role as opening doors for early childhood educators to become the most effective teachers of young children. We also recognized that with so many new products, our customers sometimes have difficulty finding what they are looking for. So we have made some changes.
What you're likely to notice right away is our new logo and the redesign of our Web site, our catalog, and selected resources. More than a design update, these changes represent our efforts to simplify our offerings and to organize our family of products in a way that is more meaningful to you and respectful of your time. As you browse our new catalog or Web site, you'll find that early childhood information and the Teaching Strategies family of resources are now divided into four pillars that support high-quality learning environments:
Curriculum
Resources that help you plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, content-rich program grounded in meaningful teacher-child interactions.
Assessment
Resources that help you observe the children in your program, assess all aspects of their development, plan responsively, and report accurately.
Professional Development
Resources that help you support the professional growth and development of your staff members as individuals and expand the capacity of your program.
Family Connection
Resources that help you foster children's learning and development by strengthening partnerships with families and family-child interactions.
We hope this streamlined approach will help you understand how all of our materials fit together and enable you to find--in one place--the pieces of a comprehensive system for your program. As always, we welcome your comments and questions. Please e-mail us at if you'd like to leave feedback.
Although we've begun to make many changes here at Teaching Strategies, our dedication to improving the quality of early childhood education hasn't changed over the 20 years that we've been in business. We continue to be mindful of your evolving needs and look forward to being a part of your future.
Warmest regards,
Diane Trister Dodge
