Partnering With Families
At Teaching Strategies we view families as important partners in children's learning. Teachers who foster trusting partnerships with their children's families are often rewarded with a deeper insight into individual children's learning styles and developmental progress. Children often gain confidence in their abilities when they know that a team of caring adults shares their triumphs and works together to achieve a positive learning experience.
Our "Building Partnerships With Families" chapter discusses one of the most important components of The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & Twos. It provides valuable information that will help you to:
- understand the benefits of working with families as partners in the care of their children
- address special concerns held by families with children under age 3
- welcome families to your program and appreciate their differences
- communicate with families in a meaningful and respectful way
Letters to Families
You'll find a sample letter to families at the end of each of the "Routines" and "Experiences" chapters. Each letter will help you explain to families why a particular routine or experience is an important part of the program. Here is an easy way to show you support children's learning and development, and how you hope to work with families. The letters are available in English and Spanish, and you can adapt them to meet the specific needs of your program and the families you serve.
