E-Mail Discussion Group is a free "opt-in," non-commercial ListServe service owned by Teaching Strategies and hosted by Bookzone.com. The group is open to anyone but is comprised primarily of educators who share ideas about their work by e-mail.

When you subscribe, your e-mail address is added to a list that other members cannot see unless you send an e-mail to the group. Discussion group e-mail is only distributed only to people who have subscribed or otherwise provided their permission.

The list allows you to post questions and discuss ideas about The Creative Curriculum® and other related topics with hundreds of educators around the world. Our authors and staff members also participate in the group and frequently answer questions and share ideas.

Be prepared. This is a very active list. There are sometimes as many as 12-25 posts per dayand sometimes as few as 2. If the list interests you but overwhelms your e-mailbox, you can change your subscription to "Digest" version. That means you will get only one e-mail with all of the posts during a 24-hour period.

The list is managed and moderated by the Web editor and other staff members. If you have problems, questions, or concerns, please

Rules and Netiquette

The purpose of The Creative Curriculum e-mail discussion group is to allow early childhood educators to exchange ideas about The Creative Curriculum. We expect our subscribers to follow our e-mail discussion group policies and general rules of "netiquette."

Follow the golden rule. Treat other members the way you expect to be treated.

The main thing you you need to know about ListServes you learned in kindergarten. Like your kindergarten teacher and like you, we have rules. First of all, list members are expected to respect the views of others on the list in all online conversations. We expect that people will disagree, but subscribers should express dissenting ideas considerately. The use of profanity, derogatory comments, or defamatory statements is prohibited.

More Specific Rules About The Creative Curriculum list

  1. Subscription Requests: Do not post your request to leave the list to the list. If you would like to change your subscription, please complete the unsubscribe request form or follow the directions to change to digest listed above. You may also .

  2. Subject lines: Use clear subject lines that indicate the contents of your message.

  3. Short responses: Do not send one-line responses or responses that do not add substantively to the discussion.

  4. Long responses: If your post is very long, please add "(LONG)" to the subject line.

  5. Excerpt the previous message: When you respond to a post, it is helpful to have the context of the post, but please cut out those parts of that message that are not relevant to your response. Don't include the entire previous message in your reply. Be selective.

  6. Copyrighted materials: Members are prohibited from posting copyrighted information to the list. Also, please be aware that all e-mail messages are considered copyrighted by the author of the message. It is illegal and unethical to forward another person's e-mail message to the list without permission from that person.

  7. Signatures: Please sign all of your messages. It is often helpful to include your professional affiliation that relates to your membership in the group.

  8. Postings to individual members: It is often more appropriate to respond to the sender directly, rather than to the post. If you think your response will not interest most of the members, you should send a reply to an individual list member only. To do so, change the address in the "To:" field of your outgoing message to the individual member's e-mail address, not the list discussion address.

  9. ECE Jobs and Conference/Event Announcements: Job and conference or event announcements that are related to Early Childhood Education generally are appropriate.

  10. Commercial Posts: Commercial postings are not acceptable, unless they are from Teaching Strategies, Inc.

  11. Attachments: Attachments are prohibited. If you need to exchange documents with other members, please do so directly, not through the list.

  12. Questionnaires: Posting a questionnaire or other type of survey to the list is not acceptable. If you would like list members to complete a survey, send a URL to an online survey or ask members to contact you so you can send it to them directly.

  13. Chain letters: Chain letters and Internet folklore are prohibited.

  14. Personal messages: It is not appropriate to post personal messages to the list. Please send the e-mail directly to the recipient.

  15. "Out Of Office" automatic responders: If you plan to use an "Out of Office" automatic reply feature on your e-mail system while you are away, please leave the list until you return and then re-subscribe. Automatic e-mails cause a great deal of disruption for the group.
