Getting Started With Our Assessment Systems

The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & Twos Developmental Continuum Assessment Toolkit

The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & Twos Developmental Continuum Assessment Toolkit is an ongoing, authentic assessment system based on The Creative Curriculum® Developmental Continuum for Infants, Toddlers & Twos. Its 21 objectives provide teachers with a comprehensive picture of how children develop in four developmental areas and enables teachers to see the next steps. Fully integrated with the new edition of The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & Twos, it helps teachers to be better observers, to plan based on their knowledge of each child, and to be more responsive to the changing needs and abilities of young children. The Teacher's Guide provides specific guidance on using the system with children with special needs.

The kit includes:

The boxed set includes enough forms to record progress for up to 20 children at 4 checkpoints each year. Toolkit components are also available separately.

CCPORT: About CC-PORT™ Version 2.0 (Software)
The Creative Curriculum® Progress and Outcome Reporting Tool

CC-PORT 2.0 is a software program that creates progress reports about groups of preschool children based on information that has been collected using The Creative Curriculum Developmental Continuum Assessment Toolkit for Ages 3-5.

After completing assessments of children for each class, the data is entered into CC-PORT 2.0, compiled, and aggregated into two reports (complete with charts and graphs) on groups of children at the class, program, and agency level. The reports show overall progress in:

  • the four developmental areas of The Creative Curriculum
  • each of the Head Start general domain areas and the required domain elements and indicators.

The reports generated with CC-PORT 2.0 help teachers and administrators identify strengths and plan strategies to further support children's learning.

Major Benefits and Features:

  • Easy-to-use CD-ROM software program for Windows 2000 and higher
  • Cross-references the goals and objectives for The Creative Curriculum with the Head Start required domain elements and indicators to provide pre-formatted narrative and graphic reports

CreativeCurriculum.net: How It Works

Subscribing

CreativeCurriculum.net is sold as an annual subscription with no additional set-up fees. The annual fee is determined by the number of children in your program.

  • Programs purchase licenses per child per year.
  • When programs subscribe, an Account Manager at Teaching Strategies works with you to set up the account. Once the account is set, the primary contact in the program will recieve a username and password. Then, administrators and teachers set up their programs with sites (multi-site programs) and classes and determine unique user names and passwords for all users.
  • Additional licenses are available for purchase as needed
  • Space to store or archive children's records can be purchased separately.
  • Licenses allow users to access the system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year wherever there is access to the Internet.

Getting Started

  • There's no special software to install, and the license ensures that users always have access to the most up-to-date technology at no additional cost.
  • CreativeCurriculum.net can be used with PCs and Macs, but there are some very basic system requirements.
  • There are no additional set-up fees.
  • We strongly recommend that each program designate one staff member to be the primary point of contact for teachers at each site. This person will train and mentor other users, answer questions, and be the designated liaison if technical support is needed.

The Technology

CreativeCurriculum.net employs a hierarchical data structure of secure passwords and uses industry-standard SSL encryption to protect sensitive data. The system meets the rigorous security requirements of many of the nation's leading school systems, including the Department of Defense.

The CreativeCurriculum.net engine was developed in ColdFusion and is powered by Microsoft SQL Server. Data entered by teachers can be exported easily by administrators.

System Requirements

You can use CreativeCurriculum.net from any PC (Windows 98 or above) or Macintosh computer with an Internet connection.* The system works with the following:

  • Internet Explorer 6.0 and above
  • Netscape Navigator 6.0 and above
  • AOL 6.0 and above
  • Safari 1.0 and above

IMPORTANT:

  • You must set your browser to accept cookies in order to use our system.
  • You will also need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download) to read and print optional versions of reports.
  • We strongly encourage EVERY user to be registered with a valid e-mail address and update their contact information regularly.
  • You must set your spam filter to accept e-mail from CreativeCurriculum.net and TeachingStrategies.com.

*Broadband Internet (DSL, Cable, T1) access is not required for every user. For most users, the system will work with dial-up access. However, administrators of large programs (more than 2,500 children) will need one broadband connection to prepare system-wide reports.
