Building Library Areas

One of the special joys of working with young children is assembling the library. Ideally, each library reflects the interests of teachers, children, and families, the local community, and the larger world. Because these are different in each classroom, each Creative Curriculum® classroom library will be unique. We hope that this web site will inspire you in building your own collection. We have included two lists of children's books and several links to other web sites focusing on children's literature.

Because the number of books desired is almost always greater than the funds available for buying them, we recommend encouraging children's families to contribute towards a Libray Fund, or to make individual purchases--whichever is most financially comfortable--in honor of birthdays, holidays, etc. That's just one of the many creative ideas educators use to build their libraries and keep them current.
